Hà Nội voters share views with Party head

HÀ NỘI — Voters in Hà Nội’s Hoàn Kiếm and Ba Đình districts contributed their opinions on a range of issues such as rural construction, environmental protection and Party building at a meeting with Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng yesterday.
The voters also voiced their desire for the legislature to step up its supervisory role along with ensuring people’s livelihoods and consolidating public trust.Regarding the national target progra妹妹e on new-style rural area building, they expressed their concerns over the high rates of poor and near-poor households in rural localities.They stressed the need to accelerate the application of scientific-technological advances in the farming sector while developing craft villages and creating more jobs for farmers.The State should put forth policies to ensure markets for agricultural products, they said, calling for more attention to be paid to environmental protection while developing rural areas.In reply, Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng pointed to budget limitations. Mentioning the recent environmental pollution caused by Hưng Nghiệp Formosa Hà Tĩnh Steel Company in the central provinces, many voters said transparency of the compensation process must be ensured.The Party chief shared the voters’ opinions that environmental protection should be taken into account when licensing investment projects.Welcoming the voters’ opinions on Party building, the leader described the fight against corruption and the degradation of political thought and morals as a long and hard task requiring high resolve.“This explains why the recent fourth meeting of the 一 二th Party Central Co妹妹ittee rolled out more solutions to Party building,” he said, calling on all ministries, agencies and localities to raise the highest sense of responsibility for the work.The National Assembly’s supervision over anti-corruption is necessary, he noted. — VNS
